Today's Reason to Celebrate

September 12, 2026 is

National Day of Encouragement

Today is National Day of Encouragement, the perfect opportunity to take a moment to uplift those around you!

This holiday was initiated by the Encouragement Foundation at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. The Foundation found a lack of encouragement in school, at home, and in the media was a major obstacle that young people faced, so they began an effort to get people to participate in a day of encouragement. September 12 was chosen as the holiday date to honor the spirit of support and love shown nationwide following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The first official Day of Encouragement was proclaimed on September 12, 2007.

To celebrate this day, share a few kind words to inspire someone you know or send thoughtful digital encouragement cards to loved ones that could use a little sunshine in their life.
