Barbie's Birthday

Today is Barbie's birthday! This childhood icon was created by Ruth Handler – a businesswoman, mom, and true pioneer of her time – and has been sparking imaginations for over six decades. 

Barbie made her debut on March 9th, 1959 at the New York Toy Fair. At first, toy buyers were skeptical at how different she was from the typical toddler and baby dolls of the time. Barbie quickly proved them wrong, and has taken the world by storm ever since!

Barbie is well known for her wide variety of careers – over 200 and counting! She helps inspire children to believe in themselves and never doubt their potential.
