The Royal Coronation

Today is the Coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in London! (It is also Nurses Day and the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby.) Millions of people around the world will tune in to watch as His Royal Majesty is crowned alongside Queen Camilla, in the first Coronation since Queen Elizabeth II, 70 years ago. The Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct the ceremony.

Their Majesties will travel from Buckingham Palace in The King’s Procession to Westminster Abbey in the gilded Diamond Jubilee State Coach created for Queen Elizabeth II. Following the Coronation, they'll return to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach, which has been used in every Coronation since 1871 (William IV). Later in the afternoon, the King and Queen will greet spectators from the balcony and witness the official flypast salute. Spectators will line the streets of London for processions, parades, street parties, and more.

To celebrate this unique day in history, watch footage from the festivities, send a Coronation Day eCard to friends and family, and enjoy a proper cup of tea!
