Put on Your Dancing Shoes
Everyone loves a good dance party so make it easy for your guests to get up and shake a leg! Whether you're planning a wedding, sweet 16 party, bar or bat mitzvah, birthday party, or even a Halloween or Christmas party, here are some ideas for creating an amazing setting for a dance party.
1. Hire an awesome DJ. Browse local DJs to find one that meets your needs as far as the type of music you want to play. Need a Latin DJ, no problem. How about a mobile DJ who can bring all of his equipment? We've got those too. Just make sure to find a DJ who will work with you to play the types of music you want for your event.
2. Tell guests there will be dancing. Make it clear on your email invitations that dancing is encouraged. Of course there are events where dancing is expected, however some guests might not know that there will be dancing at Aunt Rose's 75th birthday or at the company holiday party.
3. Give guests dancing shoes. Guests, especially women, love to kick off their heels once the music starts. However, there's nothing like a dirty floor to ruin the mood. Put out a basket full of flip-flops for guests to grab as they need them. Make it festive with flip-flops in all sizes and colors so guests have something to put on instead of socks or bare feet. They'll appreciate the thoughtful gesture!
4. Include popular songs and dances. Some people might not be as familiar with the lesser known artists that you like so make sure to include some popular songs and dances that everyone can dance to. YMCA, the Conga line, and the Electric Slide are classics that please both young and old.
5. Make room for dancing. Even if you don't have room for a dance floor, there are creative ways to make space for dancing. Plan your meal so the dancing happens afterwards, giving you the opportunity to clear out tables for a dedicated dancing space. You can also be creative with the positioning of the tables so there's more room to get down.
Enjoy!
