For an easy Christmas candy recipe, make Oreo truffles:
- 1 (16 ounce) package of chocolate Oreo cookies
- 1 (8 ounce) package of softened cream cheese
- 2 (8 ounce) packages of semi-sweet bakers chocolate
Divide the Oreo cookies.Take nine of the cookies, and place them in a sealable plastic bag. Roll over them with a rolling pin. Put the crushed cookies aside for use later on in the recipe. Crush the remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs and put them in a medium bowl. Add the cream cheese, and mix well. Use the mixture to make 42 balls. Melt the chocolate. Dip the Oreo cookie balls in chocolate, and then place them on baking sheet covered in wax paper. Sprinkle the crumbs from the nine cookies over the Oreo cookie balls. Refrigerate the cookie balls for around one hour. Serve and enjoy!
For a non-chocolate homemade Christmas candy option, make Apricot Coconut Balls:
- 1 ½ cups of dried apricots
- 2 cups of flaked coconut
- 2/3 cups of sweetened condensed milk
- Powdered sugar
Use a food processor to chop apricots with the pulsing mechanism. Mix the chopped apricots and flaked coconut in large bowl, and blend the mixture together. Add the sweetened condensed milk, mix, and blend everything evenly. Roll the mixture into balls, and then roll the balls in powdered sugar. Leave the apricot coconut balls out until they are firm, and then place them in the refrigerator.
