Bridal Shower Food
A bridal shower is focused around showering the bride with lots of gifts and well wishes for a happy marriage. Aside from the presents, the bridal shower food is the other focal point of the celebration. Serving the right food is important, but it doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. Keep in mind that finger foods and simplicity is the key to success. There are so many bridal shower food ideas that it sometimes makes it hard to decide! Here are a few simple recipes to help inspire your bridal shower menu.
Homemade Hummus and Pita Chips:
- 1 can of garbanzo beans
- 2-3 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Pinch of salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Water, as needed
- Parsley
- Pita bread or store bought pita chips
In a food processor, puree all of your ingredients except the water. Slowly incorporate the water, as needed, until the hummus reaches a desired creamy thick consistency. Pour in a serving dish. Garnish with some fresh chopped parsley and serve with toasted pita bread or store bought pita chips.
Bacon Wrapped Scallops:
- 1 lb. sea scallops
- 1 lb. sliced bacon
- Lemon pepper seasoning
- Salt, for taste
- 1/4 cup butter
- Toothpicks
First, rinse then pat dry the scallops and then remove the mussel. Wrap each scallop with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Season each side with the lemon pepper seasoning and salt. Cook on a medium to medium high heat grill for 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove from the grill and serve.
Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza:
- 1/2 cup arugula leaves
- Pizza dough (enough for a 9-10 inch pizza)
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese
- All-purpose flour
- ½ of your favorite marinara sauce
- 4-5 thin slices prosciutto
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Trim the arugula and cut the mozzarella into thin slices. On a floured surface, roll out the dough and press into a flat 9 inch round shape with your fingers, about 1 inch thick. Place your dough on a rimless baking sheet or a pizza stone (if you have one). Top the pizza with the marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Bake the pizza in the oven for 7-8 minutes or until the pizza is golden brown. Let cool for about 2 minutes, then top with arugula and prosciutto. Cut into bite size pieces for serving.
Simple Red Velvet Cupcakes:
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 5 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 bottles red liquid food coloring
- Store bought cream cheese frosting
Mix the cake mix, cocoa, eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and red food coloring in a large mixing bowl. Spoon the batter into paper lined cupcake pans. Fill them about 2/3 full to make them all bake evenly. Bake according to the box cake directions. Let the cupcakes cool for about 15 minutes before frosting. For an added bridal touch, use colored icing to writing the wedding date on the top of the cupcakes.
Make any or all of the above items to make guests at the bridal shower swoon over both the food and the bride-to-be.
