National Avocado Day
Today is National Avocado Day! A healthy and delicious food item, avocados have blossomed in popularity in the recent years.
Did you know that the avocados are actually considered a berry? Given the fleshy pulp and seed of the avocado, the green fruit fits the botanical criteria of a berry. The history of the avocado consumption dates all the way back to around 10,000 years ago. However, it is believed that humans did not begin cultivating avocados until around 5,000 years ago in Mexico. Now, avocados are enjoyed all around the world!
To celebrate National Avocado Day, whip up a fresh batch of guacamole, or enjoy avocado in a salad. Happy National Avocado Day!
