Today's Reason to Celebrate

December 25, 2016 is

Christmas

Today is Christmas! Deck the halls with boughs of holly and send free Christmas eCards to family and friends! Make sure to choose digital cards over paper this year. When you choose digital, you help cut back on unnecessary paper waste during the holiday season, and you help protect the Earth. This Christian holiday, marking the birth of Jesus, is a joyous occasion celebrated with loved ones near and far. The festivities often include a Christmas feast, gift exchanges, church celebrations, a visit from Santa Claus, and holiday parties.

Did you know that from 1649 to 1660, Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas carols and parties in England? He thought that Christmas should be a solemn holiday and the only celebrations should be church services. This law obviously didn't last because today singing carols and attending holiday parties is a big part of celebrating Christmas!

So hang up a Christmas wreath, enjoy some delicious Christmas cookies, send a last minute Christmas gift card, or kiss a loved one under the mistletoe. However you decide to celebrate today, do so with your friends and family. Merry Christmas!
