Today is Christmas! Deck the halls with boughs of holly and send free Christmas eCards to family and friends! This Christian holiday, marking the birth of Jesus, is a joyous occasion celebrated with loved ones near and far. The festivities often include a Christmas feast, gift exchanges, church celebrations, a visit from Santa Claus, and holiday parties.
Did you know that from 1649 to 1660, Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas carols and parties in England? He thought that Christmas should be a solemn holiday and the only celebrations should be church services. This law obviously didn't last because today singing carols and attending holiday parties is a big part of celebrating Christmas!
So hang up a Christmas wreath, enjoy some delicious Christmas cookies, send a last minute Christmas gift card, or kiss a loved one under the mistletoe. However you decide to celebrate today, do so with your friends and family. Merry Christmas!
