Today is Remembrance Day, which is celebrate in Canada annually on November 11th. This holiday began at the end of the First World War as a way to honor armed forces members who have given their life in the line of duty. It is observed on November 11th to commemorate the end of the First World War hostilities, which was formally ended "at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month."

This holiday is also known as Poppy Day, due to the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy in honor of fallen service members.
