Today's Reason to Celebrate

Victoria Day

It's Victoria Day! Today is a Canadian holiday that commemorates the birth of Queen Victoria, and is observed on the second to last Monday of May. It's the unofficial kickoff to summer in Canada! Send a free Victoria Day eCard to friends & family.

Traditionally, cities may hold parades and fireworks displays. Today marks the unofficial end of the winter "social season," when the ski season winds down and parks, city tours, outdoor restaurants, and more open back up.

This holiday is locally known in parts of Canada as "May Two-Four", which is a nod to the date as well as Canadian slang for a case of twenty-four beers (a "two-four"), which is popular over the long weekend.

Today, kick off the summer season and work in your garden or open up your backyard pool. Happy Victoria Day!
