Human Rights Day

Today is Human Rights Day. On December 10, 1948 The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human Rights Day is observed every year on the date of its adoption to remind all individuals to honor and stand up for their basic human rights — no matter your location or circumstance.

Did you know that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the most translated document in the world? It’s been translated into over 500 languages. While the Declaration is not legally binding, it is still an ever important document and is highly influential in international law.

To celebrate Human Rights Day, spend a few minutes learning about your human rights as a world citizen, and educate someone about the importance of our fundamental rights!
