National Pancake Day

It's National Pancake Day! Who says you can't have cake for breakfast? Pancakes are a round, flat breakfast cake made from eggs, butter, flour, and milk. The popular breakfast item is cooked on the stove or griddle until the batter reaches a golden-brown color. You can serve pancakes with maple syrup, butter, jam, fruit, and much more.

The origin of pancakes can be traced all the back to the Copper Age. Otzi the Iceman, who is believed to have lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE, was found to have remnants of a basic form of "pancake" in his stomach at the time of his death.

Today, make a hefty helping of pancakes to celebrate National Pancake Day! Try experimenting with fun toppings and flavors like chocolate chips, butterscotch, banana, apple, and more. Happy National Pancake Day!
