International Day of Friendship
Today is International Day of Friendship! Take time today to truly appreciate the friends in your life – and tell them how much you care. Never forget that the friendships you have made throughout your life have had a great impact on who you are today!
This holiday was created in 2011 by the UN General Assembly to foster the idea that friendships can inspire peace efforts and bring communities together. These friendships can be between individuals, countries, cultures and beyond.
In past years, the UN has encouraged community groups and government organizations to hold public events and activities that promote this sense of friendship and understanding. This year, connect virtually with friends to catch up.
