Katayoun is a master instructor and professional performer in Northern Virginia specializing in authentic Egyptian dance and the Persian dances of her Iranian heritage. She is especially known for her elegant and expressive dance style and dazzling technique!
Since 2000, Katayoun has presented dance performances and educational programs at numerous community events and professional venues throughout the Northern Virginia region and beyond.
In 2010, she was one of 25 dancers selected from around the world to participate in Project Belly Dance, the search for America's Top Belly Dancer, a competition and reality show.
Known for her authentic and elegant dance style, Katayoun presents the joyous rhythms, movements and stories of Middle Eastern dances and music. Drawing from her vast experience as an educator, dancer and performer, she shares her expertise and unique perspective of these empowering and expressive art forms.

Raqs Sharki (traditional belly dance) Performance: All ages and backgrounds will be delighted with this authentic Egyptian belly dance performance incorporating folkloric dance and traditional props.
Belly Dance Hafla (lesson and performance): Perfect for women and girls gatherings and rites of passage celebrations, learn the secrets to beautiful belly dance moves. You and your guests may learn a fun pop routine. The presentation concludes with a professional belly dance performance by Katayoun.

Persian Dance Performance: Katayoun's unique Persian dance show begins with traditional Iranian dance and culminates in contemporary dances, including a modern Baba Karam, and concluding with an exciting Bandari! Suited for Iranian and mixed audiences, songs and dance performance are tailored to the event, such as weddings and holiday/NoRooz celebrations.
Raqs Balady (folkloric) Performance: Among the few performers specializing in full folkloric shows, Katayoun's folkloric show incorporates finger cymbals, Raqs al assaya (women's cane dance), Balady taqsim (improvisational), Raqs al Shamadan (candelabra dance), and concludes with an exciting folklore style drum solo finale.
Rhythm & Raqs Hafla (Drum & Dance Party): Whether you are planning a themed event, or just want to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for your guests, this highly interactive presentation brings people together with the joyous rhythms of the dance and the healing power of music. Ideal for mixed audiences and educational events, participants will learn basic rhythms on traditional instruments, as well as coordinating dance steps, culminating in a dynamic dance and drum circle reminiscent of age-old community rituals.
